The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has inaugurated a new State Executive Committee (SEC) following its State Congress in Makurdi, with all the 36 positions filled through voice affirmation.
Addressing party members after the inauguration, Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia reiterated his administration’s loyalty and support to President Bola Tinubu, pledging that the APC in the state would continue to be united and stand firm behind the national leadership of the party.
Governor Alia expressed appreciation for the maturity and patriotism displayed throughout the congress process. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and uniting the APC and ensuring that Benue remains politically aligned with the leadership at the centre.
Alia said: “I am because you are. You make the wheels of governance turn and I assure you we will not rest until good governance is fully entrenched in Benue State,” the governor said, describing the congress as seamless and well-organised.
He commended the party’s National Working Committee for ensuring smooth conduct of congresses nationwide, noting that in Benue the exercise remained peaceful and transparent. He urged members to continue projecting the values of a progressive party committed to development.
Charging the newly elected executives to be up and doing, the governor described their emergence as a call to service and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, honesty and dedication. He maintained that the vision of a new Benue was already taking shape and required collective effort to sustain.
He further assured citizens that his administration would continue to prioritise development across key sectors, insisting that the state must maintain political relevance within the North-Central region through unity and strategic engagement.
Earlier, Chairman of Benue APC Congress Committee, Auwalu Ishiye, who supervised the exercise alongside the committee’s Secretary, Tijani Abdullahi, said the process complied strictly with party guidelines and reflected unity within the state chapter.

Announcing the outcome after administering the oath of office, Ishiye stated that all the 36 officials emerged through affirmation in accordance with established party procedures. He described the congress as peaceful, credible and transparent, stressing that it demonstrated the party’s capacity to manage its internal affairs effectively.
According to him, the ward, local government and state congresses were conducted without rancour, underscoring what he termed the supremacy and cohesion of the party structure in the state.
Chairman of the Benue APC Elders’ Forum, Barnabas Gemade, described the inauguration of the new executives as a significant milestone in strengthening the party’s structure. He noted that leadership across the state’s zones had demonstrated governance capacity over the years and expressed confidence in broader inclusion going forward.
Gemade also commended the governor’s efforts in agriculture, security, commerce and youth empowerment, describing them as impactful and beneficial to the people.
Speaking on behalf of Benue North West, Zone B, Hinga Biem lauded the administration’s people-oriented projects within its first three years, pledging continued support to consolidate the gains recorded so far.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected State APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, promised to reposition the party as an inclusive and formidable political platform. He emphasised grassroots mobilisation and consolidation of electoral gains as key priorities.
Omale called on members to set aside differences in the interest of unity and progress, assuring that the new executive would work closely with Governor Alia to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every part of the state.
Other officials sworn in include State Deputy Chairman, Alphonsus Indyar; State Secretary, Solomon Kachinah; Legal Adviser, Terhemen Ngbea; Treasurer, Samuel Imenger and Organising Secretary, James Ornguga, among others. The newly elected local government chairmen and secretaries were also inaugurated at the congress.
