Ali Ndume has expressed support for the Federal Government’s position on the fate of 416 captives held by Boko Haram, saying authorities are actively working to secure their release.
Speaking on Arise News Prime Time, the senator representing Borno South said he had engaged with security agencies and relevant officials, who assured him that efforts are ongoing and that the government is not relenting.
“I have talked to security agencies and those that matter, and they are working on it; the Nigerian government is not just sitting down doing nothing,” Ndume said.

According to Ndume, the administration is “on its toes” in addressing the situation, stressing that it would be inaccurate to suggest that nothing is being done to rescue the abductees.
He, however, cautioned against making outright calls for negotiations involving ransom payments for the 416 Boko Haram captives, noting that such an approach is not straightforward and could have wider implications.
Ndume maintained that security agencies are better positioned to determine the most effective strategy for resolving the crisis, urging patience as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
