Ahead of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Joint Admissions and Matricualtion Board (JAMB), the Akwa Ibom State office has met with proprietors of computer-based test (CBT) centres in the state.
Declaring the meeting open, the Akwa Ibom State coordinator, Mrs. Grace Olima-Williams, stated that the gathering was to take stock of the just concluded Mock-UTME examination, with a view to strategizing on how to achieve a seamless UTME.
According to her, centre owners are expected to play by the rules, as they are valued and critical stakeholders in the board’s bid to deliver on its mandate. Furthermore, she underscored the importance of the mock examination, which she said was optional for candidates but was, however, very important to the board as it was a dress rehearsal for the main UTME.
She acknowledged the various challenges encountered during the conduct of the exercise and assured the centre owners that JAMB had put in place measures to address the issues, adding that the main objective of the mock examination was achieved.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, a centre owner, Prof. Peace Udousen, assured the board that, as partners in progress, they would do their best to ensure a successful UTME in the state.
