Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. George Akume has urged members of the Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), to take advantage of President Bola Tinubu’s flexible economic diversification policies to hasten national economic growth.

Akume made the call yesterday in Abuja when the president of the association, Jani Ibrahim, led other members on a courtesy visit to his office.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Terrence Kuanum said the SGF stated that the Tinubu-led Federal Government has created a level playing field for private sector participation, hence the need for organised bodies, such as NACCIMA to cash in and exploit.

“I wish to warmly welcome you to my office and also congratulate you on your election to lead the association as its 26th president.

“As you are all aware, we have over-depended on proceeds from crude oil for decades, leaving out huge revenues from other sectors of the nation’s economy. And this government is deliberate about economic diversification as its surest path to building a veritable system that would ultimately outlive us, for generations yet unborn,” Akume said

Earlier in his speech, he appreciated Senator Akume for granting him and his team a warm reception.

“We have come to pledge our total support to President Tinubu through your office. And to also strengthen the bond of public-private partnership, leveraging on the renewed hope policy to enable us achieve our projection of a $1 trillion economy by 2031.

“Considering the centrality of your office in governance structure sir, we are convinced that partnering you would make our task more feasible,” Ibrahim said.

Speaking further, he noted that, “As part of our support for the green economy policy and environmental sustainability plan, we have earmarked one billion trees to be planted across the country.”

Other members of the delegation included Amb Janet Disa, Prince Dapo Adelegan, Yahaya Adediran and Emmanuel Akeh, acting DG.

Others were Solomon Adebayo Audu, Technical Adviser; Suleiman Adoga Ibrahim, Special Adviser to the National President; Prof. Tunde Esaru, Deputy President Okada Chambers and Dr. Abina Praise.

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), is the umbrella organisation for all affiliate chambers within Nigeria; it was established in 1960.
