Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has assured Nigerians of improved national security, declaring that Boko Haram insurgents have been significantly degraded into a weakened force.

Akume gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving members of the Renewed Hope Fulbe Campaign Organization (RHFCO), a grassroots Fulani mobilization platform, at his office in Abuja.

He attributed the progress to sustained military operations and non-kinetic measures, noting that terrorist attacks have become “sporadic and ineffective.” The SGF added that the Federal Government is bolstering defence through arms procurement and enhanced strategies by security agencies.

“The problems we are having are temporary problems that will certainly go away. Things are already beginning to pick up,” Akume stated, expressing optimism about resolving current challenges.

In a bold political endorsement, the RHFCO pledged “total support” for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

Led by National Coordinator Abdullahi  Tibbo, the group vowed to mobilize Fulani pastoralist communities nationwide for massive votes. “We hereby declare that the Fulbe are fully behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term. We will galvanize our people to deliver massive support at the polls,” Tibbo declared.

The group hailed Tinubu’s policies benefiting the Fulbe, including the Student Loan Scheme, super highway projects, local government autonomy, economic stabilization, and the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development—a long-sought demand by their forebears.

Describing itself as a non-partisan platform aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, RHFCO said it has structures in over 20 states to boost civic participation and voter mobilization. It appealed for recognition in policy dialogues, logistics support like vehicles and motorcycles, and inclusion in livestock programmes.

Akume commended the group’s commitment to national unity and inclusiveness, urging intensified sensitization for Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration. He assured consideration of their requests and highlighted the livestock ministry’s role in unlocking pastoral economic potential.

The delegation reaffirmed plans to promote peaceful coexistence and economic empowerment, with upcoming inaugurations of national, zonal, and state structures
