A non-profit organisation, Akokwa Professionals, has announced the sudden death of one of its members, Chief Onwuchuluba.
A statement by the group’s protem Chairman, Chief Ingram Osigwe, described Onwuchuluba as one of Akokwa’s shining stars, a thorough breed lawyer and a dedicated member of the group.
Osigwe lamented that death has robbed the Akokwa nation and Akokwa professionals of a resourceful and progressive lawyer. He said that Onwuchuluba departed days to his 60th birthday and his birthday became a wake keep in his honour.
“It was a bittersweet day for all of us and for Akokwa. We were meant to celebrate Onwuachuluba’s birthday, but instead, we gathered to celebrate the beautiful and exemplary life he lived.
“For Akokwa Professionals, it is a heartbreaking irony that the gathering on his 60th birthday was to say goodbye, to hold in his honour, a service song and mourn his departure.”
Osigwe further said in the statement: “Akokwa Professionals celebrate the incredible light Onwuchuluba brought into our lives and we will always remember him and celebrate him as a special gift to us.
“The legacy of love he left behind will guide us forever. His light shines brighter than ever, even from the stars.
“He was, indeed, one of Akokwa’s finest, a shining star, a thorough breed and progressive lawyer. He was a dedicated member of Akokwa Professionals, whose invaluable contributions will be sorely missed.”
The statement indicated that Onwuchuluba who died on March 10, 2026 will be interred in his country home on Friday, March 20, after a funeral Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, Akokwa.
