The chief executive officer, New Horizons Nigeria, Tim Akano, has emerged the 2022 Champion of Youth Empowerment by the Top10 Magazine.

Akano was rewarded for his relentless commitment and unparalleled passion for youths’ empowerment at the Man of the Year and Excellence Awards 2022 organised by the Top10 Magazine in Lagos at the weekend.

Akano, who spoke to Daily Sun shortly after being presented with the award, commended the magazine and pledged that the award would spur him to keep doing more to help youths.

He said, “Whatever I do, I do it not because of an award but to bring out light to another youth that would be far bigger than me tomorrow. That is what gives me joy. It is the success of the youth that is more important than the award. I am grateful to Top10 Magazine for giving me recognition from time to time.

“But more importantly, I am excited each time I see the youth succeeding in this country and this recognition will give me the impetus to do more”.

He also urged the Federal Government to provide the enabling environment while adding that Africans all over the world can use their talents and huge numbers to create wealth, using the instrumentality of 4.0 technology as a poverty-killer.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Publisher, Top10 Magazine, Tony Iji, while congratulating all the winners, said the brand started out as promoting excellence for individuals.

“In the last 6-7 years, we have criss-crossed the economy celebrating people and the excellence awards is meant for people who have excelled in their respective sectors.

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and the President, Masters Energy Group, Dr Uche Ogah, who was represented by the Group Executive Director, Operations at Masters Energy Group, Felix Eribo, said; “Top10 Magazine has demonstrating excellence so far since its inception in 2015 and one unique thing is that the yearly basis of selections has not been in bias. This is worth celebrating”.
