A philanthropist and educationist, Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde has expressed appreciation for the trust and confidence placed in him through his reappointment as Chairman of the Oyo State Aquatic Association by the Oyo State government, pledging a renewed commitment to the development of water sports in the state.

Akande, via an acceptance letter he issued and made available to the sporting press, promised unwavering support and dedication to promoting excellence in aquatic sports while describing his reappointment as an honor, a privilege, and a call to serve.

“I am grateful for the warm support and collaboration I have already witnessed, which I am confident will propel our association to new heights. Though my current national assignment at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies prevented my attendance at the swearing-in ceremony on April 28, 2025, I remain fully dedicated to our goals.”

“Our commitment to unity and progress will serve as a cornerstone for our future initiatives, as I look forward to working alongside each member to implement innovative programs that enhance participation and celebrate our shared passion for aquatic sports.”

Dr. Akande, however, advised parents to avoid water phobia, which is frequently the reason why they prevent their children from participating in swimming, stating that swimming is a very healthy sport with advantages for individuals of all ages.
