The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke has revealed that improvements in operational tempo across theatres of operation are being driven by better aircraft serviceability, tighter logistics coordination and a renewed focus on maintenance culture within the Nigerian Air Force.
The Air Force Chief made this known an interactive durbar with officers, airmen and airwomen of Headquarters Ground Training Command (HQ GTC) and other collocated units.
The visit formed part of his ongoing familiarisation tour of NAF formations and provided a platform for direct engagement between the Air Force leadership and personnel on issues bordering on operations, training and welfare.
Addressing the gathering, Air Marshal Aneke reflected on his first 100 days in office, outlining deliberate reforms aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the Service.
He noted that the reforms were focused on improving logistics management, enhancing maintenance systems and ensuring that the Air Force remains a professional and mission-ready force capable of supporting national security objectives.
According to the CAS, the Nigerian Air Force has in recent months recorded noticeable gains in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other security threats due to improved coordination and sustained attention to aircraft availability.
He disclosed that additional advanced combat platforms would soon be inducted into the NAF fleet, a development he said would significantly boost precision strike capability and reinforce Nigeria’s deterrence posture.

Commending the strategic importance of HQ GTC, Air Marshal Aneke observed that the training and capacity-building roles of the Command directly impact the effectiveness of frontline operations.
He charged personnel of the Command to remain disciplined, innovative and committed, stressing that the evolving security environment demands professionalism and relentless operational focus.
“Every unit of the Nigerian Air Force plays a critical role in our overall success. The training you provide here feeds directly into what our personnel do in the field, and that is why your responsibility is so important,” he said.
A major aspect of the engagement was the CAS’ strong emphasis on personnel welfare. He reiterated that motivated personnel are the foundation of airpower and pledged continued investment in accommodation, medical support, allowances and improved working conditions.
The durbar session afforded officers and airmen the opportunity to raise operational and welfare concerns directly with the CAS. In response, he assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed through structured and priority-driven interventions.
Air Marshal Aneke urged all personnel to remain steadfast and dedicated, assuring them that the NAF leadership would continue to provide the necessary support for effective performance.
The Enugu visit, analysts say, further demonstrates the CAS’ commitment to hands-on leadership and his determination to sustain the Nigerian Air Force’s growing operational impact nationwide.
It also reinforced a key message of his administration—that when personnel are properly supported and equipment is adequately maintained, the Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive airpower in defence of the nation.
