From Okwe Obi, Abuja

King’s Trust International has appointed lawyer Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede and his wife, Ofovwe, as co-chairs of its Africa Advisory Board.

They succeed the founding co-chairs, Bernard and Genevieve Mensah, who steered the board for six years and helped expand KTI’s footprint in Africa.

In an announcement shared on its official Instagram page, King’s Trust International wrote, “We’re proud to announce the appointment of Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, and Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede as Co-Chairs of our Africa Advisory Board. They succeed Bernard and Genevieve Mensah, whose six years of leadership have been instrumental in building our impact across Africa.”

The organisation added that under the new leadership, the board will work to expand schemes, strengthen partnerships, and create more opportunities for young people through education, employability, and entrepreneurship.

Aig-Imoukhuede, a lawyer, banker, investor, financial sector reformer, and one of Africa’s most influential business leaders, has played a key role in the continent’s financial landscape.

From Access Bank’s transformation to his current roles at Access Holdings Plc and Coronation Group, he is regarded as a visionary whose work cuts across enterprise, governance reform, and philanthropy.

His wife and co-chair, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, boasts over 30 years of experience in finance, law, and social impact. As Executive Vice-Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, she leads initiatives that strengthen public institutions and improve access to quality primary healthcare across Africa.

Her work focuses on bridging development gaps through leadership training, public sector reform, and strategic philanthropy.

Reacting to the news, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation celebrated the couple in a statement on Instagram.

“Congratulations to our Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, and Executive Vice-Chair, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, on their appointment as Co-Chairs of the Africa Advisory Board of The King’s Trust International. We celebrate their leadership in promoting skills development and opportunities for Africa’s youth,” it stated.

Since launching its African programmes in 2019, King’s Trust International has supported over 30,000 young people across nine countries, with 83 per cent of participants in its employability schemes moving into jobs, self-employment, or further education within three months.
