A group, Agbaja (Enugu) Leaders of Thought, has called for the reinforcement of the security system in their homestead to guarantee safety of life and property.
In a communique signed by the chairman of the organisation, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, and the secretary, Prof Agu Gab Agu, recently after their meeting in Enugu, the group stressed the need for security alertness and reinforcement in Agbaja communities.
The group noted that the community and all well meaning indigenes should do well to assit in providing logistics for the sole purpose of ensuring adequate security within Agbaja land.
The group said: “Henceforth all Presidents-General of Agbaja communities working with community leaders and within the framework of the law, should reinforce their security/defence system to comprehensively and decisively ward off/confront any attack or invasion of their homestead with stoic disposition.
“Communities and indeed well meaning and financially disposed persons should provide adequate logistics for the enforcement of security and preservation of life and property.
“Local government chairmen of Ezeagu & Udi are commended for their efforts so far but encouraged to do all that is necessary, working with the Presidents-General and the neighbourhood watch in each community to ensure a total security cordon off all Agbaja land.
“The board extolled the Umuavulu, Abor security arrangement and promised to review and reward exceptional security arrangement by communities at its January meeting.
“The board also solicited Ngwo communities to consider and rearrange their bumps on the major new market-Ninth Mile stretch to help smoothen movement.”
