An early morning attack by yet-to-be identified persons suspected to be members of the dreaded unknown gunmen has left tears and sorrows in Amansea community, Awka North council area of Anambra State.
The unknown gunmen in their attack allegedly killed the former President-General of Amansea Development Union Chief Cajetan Nwokike while performing his early morning prayers of pouring libation to the gods
This tragic incident marks yet another assassination of a community leader in the state, occurring less than two months after the assassination of Chief Silas Onyima, the President-General of Umuoji community in Idemili North council area of the state.
The news of Nwokike’s murder was disclosed by one Omife I. Omife, the National President of the Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State, in a statement issued to the press on Friday.
According to Omife, Nwokike was fatally shot by assailants while performing his customary morning prayers(breaking the kola nut) in his residence in Amansea.
The gunmen, said to be ‘two young men, entered his home and mercilessly shot him at point-blank range, resulting in his instant death’
” The Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State (APPAS) has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and urged Governor Soludo and law enforcement agencies to spare no effort in apprehending the perpetrators responsible for these heinous acts”
“The community is reeling from the loss of another esteemed leader, emphasizing the urgent need for swift and decisive action to bring the culprits to justice and restore peace to the state.”
