Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has promised to consider demands of the retired members of the armed forces in the state, geared towards ensuring better welfare for them.
Governor Kefas who made the declaration on Monday at the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Jalingo, said that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would not be taken for granted.
He urged the general public to support their families and the families of the retired members of the armed forces.
He commended the Nigeria Army for their relentless efforts in responding to security threats in the state and expressed his determination to continue to support security agencies in the state so as to achieve a crime free society.
Earlier, W O Nuhu Samaila (Rtd), Chairman of the Legion in the state said that many retirees were still active.
Samaila said that their members could work in the area of security, urging the government to consider them in such areas.
He also appealed to the state government to support the organisation to complete it’s secretariat, provide a vehicle and provide them with monthly running-cost as such would enable the legion to carry out it’s task with efficiency.
Samaila thanks the governor for identifying with them, and appealed to the public to support widows of the fallen heroes in the state.
The 6 Brigade Nigeria Army led by the Brigade Commander Maj. Gen. Frank Etim, served as the Chief Host of this year’s AFRDay in the State.
