Delords Austin Amuzie, a passionate Nigerian social entrepreneur, has received the esteemed Sport Development and Leadership Award of the Year at the Africa Future Leadership Conference and Awards (AFLCA) 10.0. This accolade recognizes his outstanding contributions to transforming lives and driving positive change in various communities.
Coincidentally, the award was presented to him on his birthday, making it a truly memorable celebration. The ceremony was paused to mark the occasion, and Delords was treated to a surprise birthday party, complete with cake-cutting festivities.
As Founder and Director of Dream Light International Foundation, Delords has made significant strides in rehabilitating and reintegrating inmates across Nigerian correctional centers. His innovative approach includes using sports as a reformation strategy by organizing football tournaments, which has proven to be a game-changer in the rehabilitation process. “The football tournaments have been a catalyst for change,” Delords notes. “We’ve seen inmates develop teamwork skills, build confidence, and rediscover their passion for life.”
