HubPharm Africa has launched AFIYA, Africa’s first multimodal, multilingual AI health companion. The unveiling, coincided with World Pharmacy Day.

Founder, HubPharm Africa, Sesan Kareem, said: “Across Africa, more than 100 million people live with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol.

“For many, managing these illnesses is a daily struggle due to forgotten medications, limited access to healthcare providers, high costs, and geographical isolation. AFIYA aims to change this narrative.”

AFIYA’s features are specifically designed to address Africa’s diverse healthcare challenges. Through WhatsApp, users could receive medication reminders, request prescription refills, and arrange for drug delivery while also noting that the AI-powered companion also supports over 30 African languages, including English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and French, ensuring inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.

“AFIYA is not just a tool; it is a lifeline. Our mission is to make healthcare affordable, accessible, and culturally relevant for every African; whether in bustling cities or remote villages.”
