Former Nigeria international Peter Ijeh has encouraged the Super Eagles to focus on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles lost 4-3 on penalties against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African playoff final one week ago.
Eric Chelle’s team will try to redeem themselves in the AFCON 2025 finals.
Ijeh stated that the players should be motivated to win the trophy in Morocco.

“Missing next year’s World Cup should be a motivating factor for Super Eagles players to go and win the AFCON,” Ijeh said on Brila FM.
“The AFCON is another opportunity for the players to make amends because what has gone has gone there is nothing they can do about it.”
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania.
They will open their campaign against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Fez on Tuesday, December 23.
