Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Olawale Rasheed, has explained that the implementation of the Governor’s directive to issue letters of appointment to the first batch of teachers is currently underway.

In a statement yesterday, Rasheed stated that neither the Head of Service nor the Chief of Staff is hindering the process, contrary to media reports claiming that top officials are obstructing the issuance of appointment letters due to financial issues.

He explained that delays in the recruitment process were primarily due to funding constraints and the recent minimum wage adjustments. He assured the public that the directive from the Governor is being processed by the relevant agencies.

According to Rasheed, both the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) are collaborating effectively under the supervision of the Ministry of Education to ensure the new teachers are appropriately allocated between SUBEB and TESCOM.

“Reports stating that the Head of Service and the Chief of Staff are blocking the release of appointment letters are false. These officials are actually working diligently to ensure the successful completion of the first phase of the exercise,” he stated.

The Osun State Government urged media organizations to seek official clarification before publishing reports that could distort facts or undermine the integrity of public officers who are fulfilling their duties.

“The recruitment process is ongoing, and the public will be duly informed through official channels as milestones are achieved. The Adeleke-led administration is committed to delivering good governance, enhancing education, and fulfilling its promises to the people of Osun State,” Rasheed added.
