Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has received his Certificate of Return for a second term in office from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The certificate was presented to the Governor by INEC National Commissioner, Professor Kunle Ajayi, at the commission’s office in Osogbo.

Accepting the mandate, Governor Adeleke described the occasion as a moment of deep gratitude and reflection, dedicating the victory to the people of Osun State who stood firm for democracy.

However, the Governor struck a solemn tone, expressing profound sorrow over the violence, injuries, and loss of life recorded during the electoral process.

Paying tribute to fallen victims such as Ezekiel Olapade, Aderogba Ajayi, Remi Abass, and Kolade Eluyera, Adeleke said, “No election, political office, or ambition is worth the life of a single citizen.”

To support those affected, the Governor announced a series of humanitarian interventions including establishment of a N500 million Osun State Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to assist verified victims and grieving families.

He also announced full university scholarships provided by the Adeleke family’s Springtime Development Foundation for the children and dependents of those who lost their lives.

He announced a transparent verification and relief committee, chaired by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Olumide Egbedun, to oversee the equitable distribution of support without political bias.

Emphasizing that the intervention is a humanitarian duty rather than a political gesture, Adeleke declared that the election cycle has officially closed.

“The election is over. The campaign is over. The contest is over. Now is the time to govern, unite, heal, and build,” he said.

Reassuring all residents, regardless of their political affiliations, that he remains a governor for everyone, Adeleke pledged to intensify efforts in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, and economic growth.
