Adeleke inaugurates Lameco flyover, says 300km of roads executed in Osun

Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, inaugurated the Lameco Flyover Bridge, urging residents to make good use of the facility.

In October 2023, Governor Adeleke announced the commencement of 45 roads and five flyovers under his N100 billion infrastructure plan, vowing to complete them within a year.

In his speech at the inauguration of the flyover, Adeleke commended the people of Osogbo for their patience during construction, appreciating the engineers, contractors and workers who worked day and night to deliver the infrastructure on schedule.

“This project is not isolated. Today marks the commencement of the unveiling for public use of several mega projects initiated by our government. This is part of our administration’s promise to rebuild Osun through infrastructure that touches everybody’s life – roads, bridges, health, education and water.

“We implemented this and other mega projects in accordance with due process, transparency and without mortgaging the further of our children. The high quality of this flyover confirms the workability of our local content model.

“We have proven to the whole world that our local engineers can perform to world-class standards. The Lameco Flyover is proof that when resources and people are well managed, good governance is the outcome.

“I am glad to bring to our attention that our administration has completed over 27km length of intracity roads in Osogbo. Across the state, we have executed over 300 kilometres of roads. We have over 10 mega projects completed and ready for commissioning. We positively touch all major towns under our motto of equity and fairness in infrastructure innovation.

“I charge the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and our community stakeholders to protect this asset. There should be no street trading on the bridge or underpass. There should be no vandalisation of railing or light,” Adeleke said.

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, commended the governor for siting the project in a strategic part of the town, saying it would not only ease movement for road users but also further enhance the town’s socio-economic activities.
