Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has confirmed a report by The Sun, announcing his formal arrangement with Accord Party to contest for re-election in 2026.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday, Adeleke officially presented Accord Party as his new political platform at an event in the Banquet Hall of Government House, attended by national and state leaders of the party.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on 6 November, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” the governor stated. The decision follows weeks of consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.
Adeleke cited the rationale for the move, saying, “Stakeholders and residents of Osun State are aware of why we are taking this important decision. We are pursuing re-election on the Accord Party platform to complete our delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, which have been applauded both at home and abroad.
“The Accord Party’s mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.”
He welcomed party leaders to Government House, saying, “You are now part of us as I am also now part of you. We are united in our progress and good intentions for the people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.”
Adeleke highlighted the importance of unity ahead of the elections, stressing the need for inclusive leadership to address all interests. “Our party, Accord Party, is here to take over governance in Osun and sustain the delivery of good governance in our dear state.”

Adeleke reiterated his commitment to prioritising citizens’ welfare, citing various policies and programmes aimed at uplifting the community. He highlighted progress in governance and service delivery and expressed optimism for the future.
“Today, we unveil the new platform for the good people of Osun State. From Osun West to Osun East to Osun Central, this is our party, our new platform for victory in August next year,” he declared.
Adeleke called on the Osun electorate to support Accord Party, saying, “Osun voted for good governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. The mass of our people are for continuity, and Accord is our party for victory next year.”
The development follows a report by The Sun on December 2, which stated Adeleke had secured an agreement with Accord Party, including endorsement for his candidacy.
A source within Accord Party confirmed party leaders agreed to nominate Adeleke for the governorship ticket, with the official announcement expected imminently, possibly by December 10.
