Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed support for Sally Tibbot Limited’s request for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to review the contentious staff audit report in the state.

The company and the state government had been at loggerheads over 8,452 ghost workers the consultant accused the state government of inserting into the payroll.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Saturday, Adeleke clarified that the focus of the review would be on the payroll and personnel list inherited from the previous administration under Gboyega Oyetola.

He said, “Our administration did not and has not expanded the personnel and payroll structures inherited from the last administration. The audit specifically covers the payroll and personnel structure from Oyetola’s time.”

Adeleke further stated that he should be commended for rejecting the consultant’s recommendations that could potentially lead to layoffs of legitimate workers for personal gain. He asserted, “We stop likely fraud even while pushing to clean up the system.”

The governor welcomed the call for EFCC and ICPC involvement, remarking, “Let the Oyetola administration officials brace up for the exercise.”
