Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused former governor Gboyega Oyetola of using his relationship with President Bola Tinubu and the influence of the Federal Government to intimidate his supporters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke made the allegation on Tuesday while speaking at the ARISE News Town Hall in Osogbo, where he addressed issues surrounding the forthcoming election.
The governor alleged that Oyetola was still unhappy over his defeat in the previous election and had resorted to using federal influence against members of his political camp.
“He’s still suffering from the pain of defeat. He’s using me because he’s a cousin to Mr. President,” Adeleke alleged.
He also accused the Federal Government of being used to pressure his supporters through arrests and other actions, questioning why members of his camp were being detained if the opposition was confident of winning the election.

“Our candidate, Alaba, you know, good bowler. He’s in jail. For what? If you know that you can win, why are you arresting my people?” he asked.
Adeleke further alleged that federal influence was being deployed to intimidate voters and political actors in the state.
“Why are you using federal might to arrest, to intimidate Osun people?” he said.
The governor maintained that the alleged intimidation would not deter his supporters or affect his chances at the poll.
“And I know they are ready. There’s no amount of intimidation. The work that I’ve done speaks for itself. Come this Saturday, I’ll be victorious,” Adeleke said.
