President Bola Tinubu yesterday, said his administration is opening up Abuja to opportunities through targeted road investments.

He made the disclosure when he commissioned Collector Roads 01 and 02 in the Mabushi District, a project he said would ease congestion, improve connectivity, and spur economic activity across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking through Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the Mabushi Bus Terminal link to Ahmadu Bello Way, he described the new roads as more than asphalt, calling them veins of commerce that would cut travel time and eliminate long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the area.

“For many years, movement in this part of the capital was a struggle, needless detours and time lost that should have been spent at work, at school, or with family. Today, that changes,” the President said.

He added that the project embodies the administration’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Tinubu urged residents to protect the infrastructure, thanked them for their patience during construction, and commended FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for delivering the project.

“I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it,” he told the minister.

He attributed the visible transformation across the capital to focused leadership and timely federal support.

Wike, on his part, credited Tinubu’s backing for the rapid pace of work and said the commissioning was part of a 31-day rollout, marking the administration’s third anniversary.

The minister said roads remain the bedrock of development, pointing to a surge in real estate and investor interest around Mabushi since construction began.

“Look at this road and look at the houses around it. Investors are coming because infrastructure has arrived,” Wike said.

He rebutted critics, who argued that public funds should prioritise other needs. He pointed to the new roads as proof that the funds were well spent.

Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described Tinubu as the driving force behind the Renewed Hope Agenda and hailed Wike as a master builder, whose determination has converted plans into visible projects.

She called on residents to safeguard the new infrastructure and to continue supporting the government’s drive to build an inclusive and world-class capital.
