There’s something about billionaires and big boats. Whether their fancy prefers superyachts or megayachts, men with money love to splash out on these sizeable sea-going giants. Luxury superyachts are also increasingly popular among Africa’s high-net-worth individuals, often serving as both status symbols and functional assets for family travel, corporate hosting, and leisure. Nigeria’s billionaire industrialist AbdulSamad Rabiu is no exception.

The uber-wealthy Rabiu maintains significant influence and fortune through industrial, political, and global asset holdings. His reported networth climbed to $8.5 billion by December 2025, placing him fourth on Africa’s richest list. His success, however, affords him the luxury of possessing some of the world’s most expensive and prized acquisitions.
While Rabiu is not obscenely loud, however, he’s renowned for a penchant for grandeur and sophistication as he has been offering a rare glimpse into his private lifestyle. Recently, the Kano-born industrialist made headlines as he’s about to join a small circle of elite tycoons with large-scale, top-tier superyachts. He is acquiring a 60-metre super luxury yacht from renowned Italian shipbuilder Baglietto as an addition to his ‘floating’ bespoke assets. But why Baglieto?
Baglietto, headquartered in La Spezia on Italy’s northwest coast, has a long-established reputation for crafting opulent superyachts, making it a top choice for wealthy clients seeking prestige and performance. Its exquisite sailboats are rarer than rare. For Rabiu, it’s Baglietto that can deliver his dream luxury toy and he’s expecting from the Italian luxury vessel builders something special, unique and brilliant. When delivered, the superyacht will have four –2 VIPs and 2 guests– cabins located on the lower deck. A fifth cabin is located on the lower deck and will host a massage room, the spacious galley –fully equipped for haute cuisine– and the crew quarters, including the crew mess, the dinette, and 7 cabins sleeping 13 crew members. The upper deck has been entirely reserved for the owner. The master stateroom is accessed from a lobby located amidships that also features a glass lift. The suite includes an office, a walk-in wardrobe, and a large bathroom with separate toilets.
On this yacht, the entire under-lower deck houses the various technical areas: the storage room, wine cellar, baggage compartment, and cold rooms. The garage, which can fit a 23’ tender, 2 jet skis and a rescue tender, has been arranged forward on the main deck, while a haute-cuisine kitchen can be found amidships. At the bow, there will be a touch-and-go helipad. The superyacht will also have two-CAT 3512 engines capable of pushing her to a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. This Italian-built steel vessel will likely cost Rabiu between €60 million and over €100 million depending on customizations, with delivery expected around 2028.
