Babsomo Communications Media has launched the Naija Market Day in North America, spearheaded by Abiodun Adetu.
Held on June 8, 2024, at Soul Sanctuary, Manitoba – Canada, the inaugural event marked a significant milestone in celebrating Nigerian culture and community through the local market experience in North America.
Naija Market Day, a brainchild of Abiodun Adetu, was conceived to bring the vibrant spirit of Nigerian markets to North America.
“There is something about our markets that you can never get shopping in the stores here in North America, the energy, the fun, the friendship, the community and all the bustling of the market,” Adetu said.
The event showcased a wide array of local vendors offering authentic Nigerian products, including fashion, art, crafts, and cuisine. Attendees were immersed in the rich cultural experience with traditional Nigerian music, dance performances, and interactive cultural displays.
The event drew an impressive crowd, highlighting the strong interest and appreciation for Nigerian culture in the region. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the positive reception of Naija Market Day,” Adetu said, adding: “This event has successfully bridged cultural gaps and provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products and connect with a broader audience.”
Naija Market Day garnered significant media attention, both locally and internationally, underscoring the event’s importance and the growing interest in Nigerian culture. The extensive coverage has amplified the voices of our vendors and performers, offering them broader exposure and recognition.
Building on the success of the inaugural event, Naija Market Day will now be held from coast to coast one city at a time till we cover the whole of North America and indeed the world. The next market day is scheduled for August 2024 and will be held outdoors, promising even more vibrant displays and activities. “We are excited to continue this journey and bring the essence of Nigerian markets to more people in North America, we have missed a taste of home and the Naija Market Day gives our people and indeed the whole world a taste of our Heritage – The Nigerian/African market exprience,” Adetu said.
