Traditional rulers in Abia State have lauded Governor Alex Otti for upping their monthly stipend from a paltry N50,000 to at least N250,000.

The payment will begin this month.

In addition, the traditional rulers have commended the Governor for approving a special Christmas package of N150, 000 to each of them to support their Christmas in addition to the monthly stipend.

Prior to now, traditional rulers in the state were getting their monthly stipend courtesy a 3 percent consolidated local councils allocation resulting in some of them receiving less than N50,000 monthly.

In a release endorsed on behalf of the traditional rulers in the state, the Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mbah
expressed gratitude that the Governor would from this month of December 2024, begin to pay N250,000 monthly stipend to every Eze in Abia state except the Traditional Rulers in Aba South, who would receive an amount different from others.

Eze Ntoh commended the friendly disposition of Governor Otti to the traditional rulers and described his relationship with Ndi Eze Abia as unprecedented.

The monarch said no former Governor in the state has so honoured the traditional institution like Otti.

The traditional rulers equally duffed their hats for Otti for approving a special Christmas package of N150,000 to each of them to support their Christmas in addition to the monthly stipend.

While praying God to continue to give Otti good health and sound mind to continue to pilot the affairs of the state, Eze Mbah reassured the Governor that traditional rulers in the state are committed to assisting him in fighting insecurity and ensuring peace and tranquility reigned supreme in their domains.
