Abia State Police Command said it has arrested one of the suspects who allegedly killed two Chinese and a police officer on April 4, while on their way to their company site at Agukwu, Amaya Ndudu community, Uturu, in Isuikwuato LGA.

This was even as the command said it rescued nine kidnap victims and trafficked children in the state from January to date.

The State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, stated these while briefing newsmen at the police headquarters in Umuahia.

Isa disclosed that leveraging technical and credible intelligence, the Command, on May 25, apprehended one Chisom Chikwendu, male, 35 years old, from Ngoli Logara, Ngor Okpuala LGA, Imo State in connection with the attack and killing of the three persons.

He said the suspect is being prosecuted by the Command and is currently in prison custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang.

Isa announced that within the period under review, a total of 230 male suspects and 15 female suspects were apprehended during various operations, prosecuted and some remanded in custody.

He equally disclosed that nine kidnapped victims and 18 trafficked children were rescued.

The police ommissioner also disclosed that several firearms and other items were  recovered from the suspects.
