Abia North: Kalu goes to tribunal

Kalu use

FORMER governor of Abia State and senatorial candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in the March 5, 2016, Abia North rerun election, Dr. Orji Kalu, has gone to the just-empanelled tribunal in Umuahia to protest massive electoral irregularities that robbed him of victory in the poll.
Mr. K. C. Nwufor (SAN) leads Dr. Kalu’s four-man legal team of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier on Sunday morning, March 6, 2016, declared the rerun election inconclusive, only to return in the afternoon to make a volte-face by announcing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Mao Ohuabunwa, winner of the rerun poll in very controversial circumstances to the chagrin of observers and other parties that participated in the election.
Recall that the same forces behind the current electoral fraud were the same people that rigged Dr. Kalu out of the 2011, 2015 and 2016 senatorial polls.
This time, Dr. Kalu has vowed not to allow this swindle to become a permanent feature in Abia State by approaching the tribunal to rectify the latest anomaly by calling the perpetrators to order and enthroning political accountability.
