The traditional ruler of Ekeoba Ancient Kingdom, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia state, Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna has hailed Governor Alex Otti for his developmental strides which he said has turned the state around for good.

Eze Nwokenna said he was especially thrilled by Otti’s reconstruction of the 70 years delapitated Omenuko bridge that killed 17 students who went for exam, including late Evangelist Uma Ukpai’s two children, a husband, wife and their driver among others.

The traditional ruler who gave the commendation during a programme organized by Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru, the Special Adviser to the governor on Policies and Interventions, noted that governance was all about providing dividend of democracy to the people.

While stating that good governance has eluded the people of the state for years, the traditional ruler regretted that the Omenuko bridge, a shot bridge leading from Abam to Arochukwu in Arochukwu LGA could be allowed to decay for years and nothing was done despite lives lost, including the life of Mr Maxwell  Udoma, his wife, Victory and their driver.

The traditional ruler recalled how about 50 years ago, he went to Arochukwu to marry his wife, that the bad nature of the bridge could nearly have prevented them from making the journey.

“Successive governments abandoned the bridge until Otti came. You needed to see the mammoth crowd that came out to welcome the governor when the bridge was commissioned recently.”

Eze Nwokonna equally mentioned other prominent roads across the state which included, Umuahia-Uzuakoli, Abam- Arochukwu road and Port Harcourt roads and said the only way the people could thank the governor was to vote for him come 2027 to enable him complete the numerous projects on ground.

A public Affairs analyst, Comrade Paul Njoku disclosed that people might not appreciate the good works of the governor until they visit the project sites.

He described governor Otti’s projects including roads as landmark projects that will last many years.
