Abia State Government is revolutionising her transport sector with the introduction of electric buses, AI-driven traffic lights and modern multimodal terminals.
The state Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu, who disclosed this in Umuahia said the aim of the full-scale reforms of the transport sector, was designed to make transportation safer, cheaper and more efficient for residents.
Ukaegbu disclosed that 20 of such electric buses had arrived the state, with another 20 expected within days and additional units scheduled for February, 2026, which would help the state move towards its target of 100 buses.
Transportation, he noted, “is not just about moving people and goods. It drives social integration, supports every sector and generates revenue for the state.”
