Abia Govt expresses concern over measles outbreak in 2 LGs, vows to stop spread

Abia State Government has expressed concern over the outbreak of measles in two local government areas of the state.

 

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu who made this known on Tuesday, said measures were being taken to ensure it did not spread to other Local Government Areas.

 

He identified the two local governments affected by measles as Arochukwu and Umunneochi.

 

“The state Ministry of Health was doing all it could to prevent the spread of the disease to other areas in the state.

 

He called on Abians to be watchful and do all they could not to contract the virus.

 

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, informed that the Ministry of Health was already mopping up to identify the affected children to forestall further spread.
