Abia bans placement of loose flex materials on fences, electric poles

From Okey Sampson, Umuahia

The Abia State government has banned the hanging of loose flex materials on fences and electric poles throughout the state with immediate effect.

A statement signed by Hon. (Mrs) Dibunma Victoria Onwubiko, MD/CEO of the Abia State Signages Agency (ABSSAA), said the decision was necessitated by the fact that such flex materials often fall and block drainages.

‘The general public is hereby directed to henceforth desist from the ugly practice of hanging loose flex materials on our fences and poles, as they often fall and block our drainages,’ the statement read.

ABSSAA also directed that all unwanted boards marked for removal be removed immediately by their owners to keep the state clean.

As a means of boosting its revenue for effective operations, the agency reminded all stakeholders in the industry of the need to pay their annual renewal fees to the designated IGR account using their ABSIN numbers.

‘We are reminding all stakeholders in the industry of the need to pay their annual renewal fees to the designated IGR account with their ABSIN numbers for the effective operations of the agency,’ the statement added.

ABSSAA warned that it will not hesitate to sanction defaulters who fail to adhere strictly to these directives.
