Seven construction workers who were kidnapped on December 15 along the Sabaja–Owa-Onire road in Isin LGA, Kwara State, while carrying out construction duties have been released.

The Press Secretary for the Kwara State Ministry of Works, Olajide Abolarin, confirmed the release in a statement released in Ilorin on Monday.

According to Abdulquawy Olododo, commissioner for works and transportation, the state government and security agencies worked together to regain the freedom of the workers.

Olododo described the release as a significant win for public safety in the state.

He thanked the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for combating insecurity with strong political will.

“We are grateful to His Excellency and the security agencies. We also appreciate everyone who stood by us during these difficult times,” Olododo said.
