Gunmen suspected to be terrorists, on Sunday night, stormed the palace of the Emir of Kagarko in southern part of Kaduna State, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and took away his wife, sons and daughters.
The gunmen were said to have abducted nine of the emir’s children, including grandchildren and three other people in the town. However, the report said the royal father’s wife escaped and returned home shortly after she was abducted.
A resident, who spoke to Daily Sun, said the gunmen stormed the area around 11:15pm and headed directly to the emir’s residence.
The resident did not, however, speak about the whereabouts of the emir at the time the terrorists struck.
“They took away his youngest wife, nine children and grandchildren, but the wife escaped and returned home,” he said.
He said the gunmen also took three other people, including a lady, and injured one person who was receiving treatment at a hospital.
“The bandits also killed one herdsman in Kuchimi village and looted seven shops in Janjala village (both in Kagarko LG) on their way back,” the source added.
The Kaduna Police Spokesman, DSP Muhammed Jalige, did not answer calls to his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.
Kaduna is one of the North West states seriously disturbed by a high wave of insecurity in the zone.
Terrorists have been making life so unbearable for residents in most of the 23 Local government areas of the state, even as the government continued to make concerted efforts to tackle the situation.
