ABC Transport Drivers Training Academy (DTA), a beacon of excellence in driver training in Nigeria, recently celebrated the graduation of its 2023/2024 class.
This year’s graduating class was particularly noteworthy as it included a female graduate for heavy-duty trucks, Duru Chizoba Precious, a milestone that was celebrated with pride by the entire academy.
The ceremony, held at the academy’s campus in Owerri, marked the culmination of an intensive six-month training programme that ran from December 2023 to May 2024.
Established in 1999, ABC Transport’s DTA was founded with a mission to ‘prepare and produce’ for Nigeria’s motoring environment, law-abiding and safety-conscious drivers who appreciate the value of human life.
Now regarded as Nigeria’s best industrial driver training academy, the Drivers Training Academy has steadily built a reputation for producing some of the finest drivers in Nigeria, specialising in the training of drivers of all kinds, especially heavy-duty truck and coach-bus drivers
DTA is accredited and approved by both the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Industrial Training Fund.
The academy’s robust curriculum and hands-on training have enabled it to graduate over 75 sets of drivers since its inception, contributing significantly to road safety and the transportation industry.
The Managing Director/CEO of ABC Transport Plc, Mr. Jude Nneji, expressed his delight at this achievement, stating, “We are incredibly proud to see a female graduate for heavy-duty trucks. It’s a testament to the fact that our industry is evolving, and women are playing an increasingly important role in it.”
In his remarks at the ceremony, the representative of FRSC, DC Training, Nekebari Agbebi, further attested to the quality of DTA training programmes, noting that the academy is also recognised internationally, a testament to its commitment to maintaining high standards and producing world-class drivers.
This year’s graduates benefited from the academy’s modern facilities, including advanced driving simulators and practical training on the academy’s fleet of coach buses and trucks under the guidance of experienced instructors.
This blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience ensures that graduates are well-prepared to handle the challenges of professional driving.
During the ceremony, Mr. Nneji commended the graduates for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing the critical role they would play in ensuring road safety and contributing to Nigeria’s economy.
“Our drivers are the backbone of the transportation sector,” he said. “We are proud to have trained professionals who will uphold the highest standards on the road.”
The event was attended by dignitaries, including representatives of the FRSC, industry stakeholders, and proud families of the graduates.
The academy’s top graduate, Mr. Michael Eze, delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the instructors and pledging to uphold the values instilled during his training.
As the graduates embark on their professional journeys, they carry with them not only the skills acquired but also the prestige of having trained at one of the foremost driving academies in the country.
Guests at the ceremony observed that with the continued expansion of Nigeria’s transport sector, the expertise provided by ABC Transports Driver Training Academy will remain indispensable.
The ceremony concluded with a presentation of certificates and awards for outstanding performance.
