The Cargo division of Nigeria’s foremost land transport company, ABC Transport Plc, recently played host to the Transport Planning and Management students from The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Oyo state
The Higher National Diploma (HND) students embarked on the study trip to ABC Cargo Express in Lagos to have a practical insight into the operations and management of a renowned cargo, e-commerce and logistics organisation.
The students were warmly received by the Head of Business Development of the Organisation, Mr. Samuel Ikotun, on behalf of the Managing Director, Mr. Jude Nnaji.
During the visit, the students were taken on a tour of the ABC Cargo Express facility and had the opportunity to observe various stages of cargo handling, including sorting, packaging, and loading.
This hands-on experience provided the students with a practical understanding of the cargo and logistics management processes in ABC Cargo Express’s facilities.
The students explored the cargo handling areas, warehouses, and various departments within the organization and also, witnessed the efficient loading and unloading processes, learned about proper packaging techniques, and observed the tracking systems used to monitor shipments.
At the end of the tour, the students acknowledged that the visit was an invaluable opportunity for them to gain first-hand knowledge of the operations of Nigeria’s leading cargo express and logistics organisation.
They confirmed that the visit significantly enhanced their understanding of cargo handling, supply chain management, and the technological advancements in the industry.
The Head of Department of Transport Planning and Management, the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Dr. Akanmu, expressed his sincere appreciation to ABC Cargo Express for their warm reception, and for .contributing to the students’ learning experience.
Also speaking, the President of the Transport Students’ Association (TRANSA), Miss Kafayat Dolapo, accompanied by Mr. Adeyemi Joel, expressed their gratitude to ABC Cargo Express for their hospitality and willingness to share their expertise.
The duo presented ABC Cargo Express with an award, explaining that it was in recognition of the organisation’s outstanding commitment to community development and exceptional service provision in Nigeria’s road transport sector.
They described the study trip to ABC Cargo Express as a resounding success, because it provided the HND Transport students with valuable practical knowledge and inspired them to excel in their future careers in the transportation industry.
