Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has assured the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) of the support of the 10th assembly to enable it discharge its functions effectively.

Abbas, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity
Musa Abdullahi Krishi, gave the assurance, while receiving RMAFC management, on a courtesy visit to his office, on Tuesday.

The speaker expressed dismay that
the commission has been battling with several challenges, including lack of adequate funding and infrastructure. He stated that there is need for the parliament to come to the rescue of the Commission.

According to him, “one thing that you can take away from this meeting is that the National Assembly, this time around, will make the difference that you require. ”

The chairman of the RMAFC, Mohammed Bello Shehu , who led the Federal Commissioners and other top management staff on the visit, congratulated Abbas on his emergence as speaker.

Shehu canvassed for the review of the Act establishing the Commission so to enable it perform better. He noted that “We need enforcement powers, better independence, better funding. We lack the funds to do the things that are mandated for us to do as a Commission.”
