• Highlights party’s growth, widespread state development
By Christian Agadibe
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has expressed confidence in the party’s growing acceptance across the state, saying ongoing grassroots engagement and the performance of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration have strengthened the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The chairman traced the party’s current momentum to the decision by members of the state’s former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership to join the APC in October 2025, following what he described as internal challenges within the PDP.
According to him, the move was driven by a belief that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level would create greater opportunities for Enugu State to benefit from national programmes and federal support.
He said that after emerging as APC chairman in March 2026, one of his priorities was uniting party members and encouraging Enugu residents to embrace the APC in a state that had traditionally been regarded as a PDP stronghold.
The chairman argued that the state has witnessed increased federal engagement since joining the APC, pointing to visits by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as the hosting of more federal programmes and regional meetings in Enugu.
Responding to criticism that development projects in the state had slowed, he dismissed the claims, insisting that major projects remain on schedule.

He cited the ongoing construction of smart schools, healthcare facilities, road infrastructure and other development projects across the state, explaining that while external construction may appear complete, much of the remaining work involves interior installations that are less visible to the public.
Assessing Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, the APC chairman described the governor’s performance as “excellent,” commending his decision to complete abandoned public projects and continue investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and security.
On preparations for the 2027 elections, he said the party would continue strengthening its grassroots mobilisation while encouraging more residents to identify with the APC. He also maintained that the recent electoral victories recorded by the party reflected growing public confidence in its leadership.
The chairman further argued that the APC remains well positioned ahead of the next general elections, expressing confidence that opposition parties would find it difficult to unseat the ruling party despite their continued participation in the democratic process.
He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Nigeria’s zoning principle, noting that power rotation remains an important element of the country’s political structure.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, the chairman pointed to improvements in security, education and infrastructure, saying investments in smart schools, technology driven learning, healthcare facilities and security initiatives are laying the foundation for long term development in Enugu State.
He added that the APC would continue engaging communities across the state while promoting policies aimed at improving the lives of residents and sustaining the state’s development trajectory ahead of the 2027 elections.
