The Director General of Public Affairs at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, has urged air travelers to arrive at airports at least three hours ahead of scheduled departure times for international flights, warning that check-in deadlines vary across airlines.
Posting on his verified X handle on Monday Achimugu wrote: “For international flights, please, be at the airport three hours before departure. Some airlines close their check-in counter earlier than others. Also, if you can, check in online and secure a seat number. I can’t stress this enough. Better to be too early for your flight, than be late.”

This advisory comes amid ongoing efforts by the NCAA to reduce passenger delays and missed flights caused by late arrivals at airports.
Stakeholders have also repeatedly observed that check out times differ from airline to airline, making early arrival especially for international departures an important factor in ensuring a seamless travel experience.
