The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact Plc, Mr. Niyi Toluwalope, yesterday, revealed that Nigeria has surpassed 100 million National Identity Number (NIN) enrolments and recorded more than 60 million Bank Verification Number (BVN) holders, a milestone that highlights the country’s growing digital infrastructure.

Toluwalope, who was represented by the Executive Director and Group Head, Public Sector Division, Mr. Abubakar Achimugu, disclosed this at the Nigeria Employers’ Summit 2026 organised by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) in Abuja.

He said the growth in digital identity systems provides a strong foundation for accelerating financial inclusion, improving public service delivery and supporting Nigeria’s economic transformation through digital payments.

“Around the world, governments are investing in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), the digital foundation that enables modern economies to function efficiently,” he said.

“DPI is built on three interconnected pillars: Digital Identity, Trusted Data Exchange and Digital Payments. Nigeria currently has over 100 million National Identity Numbers (NIN) and more than 60 million Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) enrolled.”

According to him, digital payments have evolved beyond facilitating financial transactions to becoming a critical tool for boosting transparency, strengthening revenue collection, improving tax administration and reducing leakages in public finance.

“Every digital payment creates a trusted record. Every trusted record strengthens accountability. Every accountable transaction reduces leakages. Every reduction in leakages increases confidence in government, institutions and the economy, and that is where eTranzact comes in,” he said.

Toluwalope noted that while government provides the policy framework for digital transformation, the private sector is responsible for building, operating and scaling the infrastructure needed to sustain economic growth.

He said eTranzact has continued to support both public and private sector organisations with technology-driven solutions designed to improve efficiency and service delivery.

“At eTranzact, we believe technology creates value only when it advances national priorities. That belief guides every solution we build,” he said.

He listed the company’s e-Invoicing Solution, Pension Gateway, Electronic Verification Management System (EVMS), Central Billing Systems and other digital transformation platforms as key innovations supporting government revenue collection and institutional efficiency.

“Our platforms are designed to support organisations, including members of NECA, by helping them improve their operations through secure and efficient digital solutions,” he added.

Toluwalope said the company’s digital payment innovations also promote Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives by expanding financial inclusion, strengthening governance and improving business efficiency.

Reaffirming eTranzact’s commitment to supporting government reforms, he said, “The future will not be shaped by the reforms we announce, but by the outcomes we deliver.”

Also speaking, eTranzact’s Head of Federal Government Business Partnerships, Adedayo Adejokun, said the company’s sponsorship of the summit reflected its commitment to inclusive economic growth and public-private collaboration.

“We strongly believe in ESG principles and in driving inclusiveness. Our role as a financial technology solutions company goes beyond facilitating payments. We simplify interactions between citizens, businesses and government by making these processes more seamless and efficient,” she said.

She added that increased private sector participation in government programmes would create more opportunities for businesses and accelerate Nigeria’s economic development.
