“We just wrapped up the strongest first half in Hyundai’s history,” CEO of Hyundai’s North American operations, Randy Parker, chanted on Monday (June 30, 2025).
Hyundai sold a record 439,280 vehicles in the first half of 2025, representing a 10 percent increase from the same period last year. It’s the most vehicles Hyundai has sold in the US since the brand arrived in 1986.
Hyundai also set new records for Q2 and June sales, with 235,726 units (+10 percent) and 69,702 units (+3 percent) sold, respectively.
These are pieces of cheery news for the teeming Hyundai lovers in Nigeria where the brand is represented by Hyundai Motors Nigeria Limited, which is a division of Stallion Motors.
After celebrating the grand opening of its new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), a massive new EV manufacturing plant in Georgia, the company expects the momentum to pick up later this year.
Parker said, with a “growing lineup of American-made vehicles” and new market campaigns, Hyundai is “building momentum with every mile.”
Although sales of the popular IONIQ 5 slipped last month, they remained up through the first half of the year. The IONIQ 5 remains a top-selling EV in the US with 19,092 units sold through June, up 2% from last year.
After Hyundai began delivering its first three-row electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, in May, the company reported that it had sold 1,013 units through the end of June.
The three-row IONIQ 9 is built at Hyundai’s new electric vehicle plant in Georgia, alongside the updated 2025 IONIQ 5.
Hyundai’s new manufacturing plant is capable of producing up to 300,000 vehicles annually. If needed, Hyundai said output can expand to around 500,000 units.
In a related development, but in far away Asia, ,lHyundai Creta has emerged as India’s best-selling passenger vehicle in June 2025.
This sales milestone coincides with the Creta’s 10th anniversary in India as it went on sale in July 2015.
The SUV has also been the country’s highest-selling model in the first half (Jan-June) of CY25.
Besides June 2025, it was also the highest sold PV in the months of March and April, earlier this year. Hyundai stated that the Creta has been the highest-selling midsize SUV in the Indian market every completed year since its launch in 2015.
Hyundai India sold 15,786 units of the Creta SUV in June 2025 in the domestic market in India. Recently, the South-Korean automaker launched the all-electric version of the Creta in the Indian market.
Apart from the regular petrol and diesel variants, the SUV is also offered in a high-performance N Line trim with the 1.5L Turbo GDi petrol engine.
Speaking on the milestone, Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “CRETA is not just a product, it is an emotion for over 1.2 million Indian families. Over the last decade, brand CRETA has consistently redefined the SUV space and remained a strong pillar of Hyundai’s growth in India.”
In Nigeria, though the auto market at large has been witnessing a downturn, the Creta and other Hyundai models have been getting a fair share of sales as confirmed by Hyundai Motors Nigeria (Stallion Motors).
