The Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has approved the appointment of Barr. Abdulkadir Abubakar as the new Registrar of the University for a term of 5 years.
The appointment was announced under the leadership of the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (Rtd.).
Head of Information and Public Relations,of the University,Mallam Jamilu M Magaji who confirmed this development in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi stated that the Council, considered the recommendation from the Joint Senate and Council Selection Board and gave the approval at its 29th meeting, held on Thursday May 22, 2025.
He also disclosed that the Council approved the promotions of four academic staff to the ranks of Professor and three to Associate Professor (Reader).
Mogaji explained that the Registrar holds a Master of Law Degree in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Law in Common and Islamic Laws from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in 2004 as called to the Nigerian Bar as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2009.
“Until his appointment as the new Registrar FUBK, Abdulkadir was a Deputy Registrar and the Head of Legal Unit in the University. He served as TETFund Desk Officer (Staff Training and Development) and Assistant Secretary to the Council”, he said.
“In another development, the Council has approved the promotions of 4 academic staff to the ranks of Professor and three to Associate Professor (Reader).
“The newly promoted Professors are Dr. Bello Bala Diggi (Intellectual History), Dr. Mohammed Bashar Danlami (Virology), Dr. Muhammad Muazu Yusuf (Development Economics) and Dr. Yahaya Tajudeen Olarenwaju (Cell Biology and Genetics). The Associate Professors (Readers), on the other hand, are Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, Department of Business Administration; Dr. Abdullahi Umar, Department of Geography and Dr. Ali Sherrif Kabara from Accounting Department.
The appointments of Professors Bello Diggi and Bashar Danlami take effect from 1st January 2024, while those of Professors Muazu Yusuf and Tajudeen Olarenwaju is effective January 1, 2025.”.
