Nigeria produces some of the brightest academic minds globally. But for years, a gap persisted between theoretical research and real-world application. The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), in collaboration with Innov8 Hub, is bridging that gap with TETFAIR.
TETFund and Innov8 Hub officially announce the commencement of Cohorts 5, 6, and 7 of the TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research (TETFAIR) program. This initiative brings together 11 distinguished teams from Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions, comprising four universities, four polytechnics, and three colleges of education. The selected teams represent a cross-section of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange.
TETFAIR is a year-long program designed to transform innovative ideas from academia into market-ready solutions. Participants will engage in intensive bootcamps, mentorship sessions, and prototype development phases at Innov8 Hub’s state-of-the-art facilities in Abuja. The program emphasizes practical training in areas such as venture creation, product development, and commercialization strategies.
The TETFair projects span critical sectors like: Agriculture, Food Technology, Environment, Energy & Circular Economy, Health & Accessibility, Information Communication Technology, Security, Transportation, Aviation & Shipping and Streamlining / Improving Production Processes
These focus areas align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to address critical challenges and drive sustainable development in Nigeria.
Building on the success of previous cohorts, which have produced over 250 prototypes including solar-powered cold chain devices, IoT-enabled farm tools, and low-cost bioenergy systems; this new phase continues to bridge the gap between academic research and industry needs. The program promotes a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s educational institutions, contributing to the nation’s socio-economic advancement.
This initiative underscores TETFund’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic research and industry needs, promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s educational institutions.
