An Abuja-based lawyer, Festus Onifade, has pulled back a lawsuit against MultiChoice Nigeria Limited and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
He had taken them to the Federal High Court in Abuja over a price increase by MultiChoice.
Onifade wanted the court to stop MultiChoice’s planned price hike right away. He argued it broke the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018.
He also asked the court to order the FCCPC to enforce and check this suspension, ensuring the law and consumer rights were followed. Plus, he sought ₦20,000,000 from MultiChoice for breaching his rights.
On 7 April, Onifade filed a new request to drop the case, telling the court he no longer wishes to pursue it.
