The International Network for Corporate Social Responsibility (IN-CSR), in partnership with the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights (Switzerland), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has concluded plans to host a one-day workshop on “Human Rights Dimensions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Challenges and Opportunities in Africa”.
The workshop, which will hold virtually and physically at the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria, Abuja, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, will bring together experts, regulators and industry leaders to explore the ethical, legal and governance implications of AI on human rights in Africa.
The event is co-sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria (NHRC), Paradigm Initiative and the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD).
The convener, Eustace Onuegbu, the President/Lead Consultant, IN-CSR, said key speakers expected at the event include the Executive Secretary, NHRC, Tony Ojukwu (SAN); Prof. Damilola Olawuyi (SAN), of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights; the Director General, NITDA, Kashifu Abdullahi, and the Director General, NCC, Aminu Maida, among several others.
