The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has called for unity among Nigerians. He urged citizens to remain united, work together and foster love for one another to ensure the country’s growth and progress.

The CDS made this call during the breaking of fast with Muslim faithful in the spirit of Ramadan at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

General Musa, while noting that the gesture is in line with his people-centric leadership style, further emphasised that unity and collaboration are essential for the country’s development.

He said “Let’s always remember that God Almighty is the one who has created us, who has brought us to this world, and who has made us Nigerians,” he added.

Earlier in his address, the Chief Imam, Defence Headquarters mosque, Navy Captain Gidado Mijdad, said that Ramadan fast is an annual spiritual exercise and experience for Muslims.

“It is also an annual bonanza from Allah, multiplying rewards and quadrupling the chances of getting closer to the Almighty by showing kindness to the less privileged and being empathetic to their plight. Furthermore, fasting in the month of Ramadan is a period of moral and spiritual awakening for all the faithful,” he said.

He sais “it is in line with this that the CDS has graciously considered it necessary for us to sit together and share in the blessings of breaking our fast.”
