The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed another set of establishments across the state over alleged persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations that posed significant threats to public health and safety.
The agency disclosed this in an X post on Friday, December 20.
“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has stepped up its enforcement efforts, sealing multiple establishments across various locations in the state. This decisive action was taken in response to persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations that posed significant threats to public health and safety.
“The affected areas include Akerele, Ayilara, Eric Moore, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lawanson, Ijeshatedo, and Aguda, all within Surulere, Ojota, as well as Femi Okunu Road and Milverton Road in Ikoyi.
“Among the establishments sealed during the operation are ; Suya Spot, Club Crash, Tea & Coffee Spot, and Salt of Life Prayer Ministry. Other affected properties include Esteem Royal Hotels, Paragon Hotels, Cord Hotels & Suites Ltd, House 36, Admax Hotel, C.C. Uche Aluminum Company, a construction site, Bakery and Milestone Apartment,” the post reads in part.
The General Manage of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and the well-being of Lagos residents.
“Noise pollution and other environmental violations disrupt the peace and health of our communities,” he said.
The LASEPA boss noted that the enforcement action highlighted the agency’s zero-tolerance stance against environmental violations and “underscores our determination to uphold environmental laws”.
Ajayi also called on businesses and individuals to adhere to environmental regulations, emphasising that compliance is essential to creating a healthier and more sustainable Lagos for all.
On December 16, LASEPA announced the sealing of some establishments across the state for similar offences.
