Ekiti students of Sonmonri Comprehensive High School, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos State, 1984 set, have renovated the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre and donated a N27 million equipment.
Ekiti State Police Command has arrested 17 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, and recovered weapons in their hideout at Oshodi community , Ado-Ekiti.
Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, said: “The command has made the state too hot for criminals to operate. We have to embark on intelligence gathering, leading to the arrest of the suspected hoodlums in their various hideouts.
“The Rapid Response Squad [RRS] commander, Marcus Ogundola, with operatives stormed Oshodi community Ado –Ekiti, arresting four suspected armed robbers and recovered AK47 rifles, two locally made Barreta pistols with magazine, loaded with four rounds of live ammunition,which they used to attack their victims in Ikere-Ekiti.
“The also operatives raided the hotel of the hoodlums and arrested three suspects who specialised in stealing vehicles.
“Suspected cultists were arrested by RRS operatives. They are members of supreme Eiye confraternity. They specialised in robbing POS operators at Olaoluwa Street, Ado-Ekiti. They arrested some cult group rival members of Eiye and Black Axe Aiye confraternities in Ado-Ekiti. They were involved in killing and robbing of innocent citizens. They recovered two locally made single barrel guns and nine cartridges.
“Operatives arrested two armed kidnappers who stormed the residence of an 87-year-old woman at Ifako–Ekiti and robbed her at gun point. The suspects instructed the woman to withdraw additional cash of N3million from her bank account threatening to kill her if she didn’t send the money to them before the RRS swung into action and arrested the two principal suspects.
“Today, the state is calm and safe. Suspects will soon be charged to court.”
