When they allocated N70bn pocket monies, N40bn vehicle provision funds, N57bn rice palliatives funds, and increased NASS budget allocation from N120bn to N560bn, there was no committee set up to do it.
They rushed the approval/allocation and secured presidential assent hypersonically.
But to pay minimum wage of N35,000/$23, they are setting up long committees of governors and other people.
In a country where selfish, ethically bankrupt, unprincipled/ignorant folks, rogues and bandits are not in an overwhelming majority in the public service, the NLC, TUC and their affiliates would have shut down the whole system and institutions of the state across Nigeria, until the Constitution and fiscal laws are amended by the NASS and politicians to align the salaries, perks and allowances of political office holders across the land to that of the civil service as we had it between 1960 and 1966 and other sane climes.
It is only in a jungle that politicians will brazenly squander N160m to buy SUV for one man who is elected to serve for years as a legislator, while a professor of Medicine or Law who is slaving daily and for decades to train human capital that is required to build up the nation treks like Almajiri.
If we do not return the Nigeria constitutional and fiscal framework to what we had from 1960 to 1966, this country is doomed.
I know this to be true …Nothing else will save this land.
