From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who contested for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Toyin Amuzu, has commended the Oladipupo Adebutu, for his tenacity and doggedness in pursuing the governorship litigation up to the Supreme Court.

Amuzu, who described Adebutu as a “dogged fighter and a true democrat”, added that the PDP governorship candidate’s love for a better society and the uplift of the downtrodden could not be wished away.

The commendation followed the Supreme Court’s ruling delivered on Friday which affirmed the electoral victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun and dismissed Adebutu and PDP’s litigation.

“Hon. Adebutu has done his own, he has demonstrated a true sense of responsibility, integrity and leadership to show how authentic leaders behave and put service at the forefront of all they do.

“I am so proud of my leader, he is always true to himself, displaying transparency and integrity, and fostering positive relationships with those he is leading. I am sure history will vindicate Adebutu who proved that if people lose trust and confidence in elections, democracy will practically be on the life support system”, he said.

He thanked the people of Ogun State and urged them to remain steadfast; assuring that another opportunity to serve the state would present itself shortly.
